SEW began in 1996 as Stainless Equipment Works. From a building on Hornweg, the team worked on industrial equipment for sectors where quality and precision are paramount.
Over the years, SEW evolved into a manufacturer of specialized equipment and structures for the oil and gas industry, and the food and process industries, among others. This expertise built up extensive knowledge of welding and machining techniques and working with a wide range of materials. This technical foundation still forms the core of the company.
With growth, the various divisions increasingly required their own approaches. This led to an organizational separation. Within this development, SEW Energy evolved into an independent player in complex industrial projects. With the addition of electrical engineering and instrumentation, SEW Energy was able to approach projects with an increasingly integrated approach.
This is how the organization came into being as it stands today: built on experience, with broad technical strength and accustomed to responsibility for the whole.
