During a working visit to our location in Broek op Langedijk, representatives from the political sphere, the Royal Metal Union, Tetrix Techniekopleidingen, and SEW Energy engaged in a dialogue regarding the shared challenge of training sufficient technical talent for the future.

At the end of last month, SEW Energy welcomed Member of Parliament Martin de Beer (VVD), Mark Helder (Chairman), Wijnand van Zanten of the Royal Metal Union, and Henk Kemkes of Tetrix Techniekopleidingen to its Broek op Langedijk location for a working visit. The focus was on one of the biggest challenges within the technical sector: training, developing, and retaining sufficient skilled professionals.

During the working visit, Pascal Kool and Aranka Blauw-Elstgeest shared SEW Energy's vision on learning and development. The central question was how the government, education, trade associations, and the business community can jointly contribute to a future-proof technical labor market.

Taking responsibility together

The energy transition requires well-trained technicians. At the same time, the shortage of technical personnel is growing. At SEW Energy, we experience daily how important craftsmanship is for the execution of sustainable energy projects. However, this challenge cannot be solved by a single organization. Only through intensive collaboration can we ensure that the Netherlands has a sufficient supply of technical professionals in the future.

Practice-oriented training with the SEW Academy

At SEW Energy, we believe in practice-oriented learning, getting young people enthusiastic about technology at an early age, and the continuous development of employees. Based on that vision, the SEW Academy established. The academy is not a replacement for existing vocational training programs, but a valuable addition in which collaboration with education and the industry is central. In this way, we jointly invest in the professionals who make the energy transition possible.

Valuable dialogue

The working visit provided an opportunity for an open and constructive exchange of experiences, insights, and ideas. We look back on valuable conversations and thank Martin de Beer, Mark Helder, Wijnand van Zanten, and Henk Kemkes for their visit and involvement.
